This wedding was one of my favorites this season. I loved pretty much everything about this wedding. The location, the dress, the vibe, the people, I could go on but I won’t I shot this back in August of 2011 and it was a perfect day out! William and Brandi are great people, even better together. I had a great time getting to know them over the past few months. I shot this wedding on 3 hours of sleep. I had a wedding the previous night in IL, about 6 hrs. away from this MN wedding. Surprisingly I wasn’t tired. The location was amazing. It was a beautiful place for a wedding. One for the books for sure. This vintage classic feel that they both love totally worked in this environment. I love it when a wedding is planned out well and all the details fall into place on the big day. William and Brandi, it was a blast shooting your wedding! Thanks for letting me be a part of your day! I hope you all enjoy this as much as I did making it!

Cory + Michelle’s wedding was on August 20st 2012. Once again the rains came rushing in. This was a scheduled outdoor wedding as well. A wedding at an AMAZING location! I had a blast shooting this thing. And luckily for everybody, the rain decided to move north of us. This left us with a bright sunny day. I was pumped for this because the location was so amazing. They got married in Illinois, deep in the country side

One of the big plans was to take pictures back by this canyon/waterfall. You can see it towards the end of the video. It was an exciting place to shoot. We had to walk through a sandy, wooded trail for like 15 minutes before we made it to our location. I was tired, sweaty, and eaten up by mosquitos but it’s all good I had a change of clothes and new shoes. TOTALLY WORTH IT! If there is any tip I can give to an engaged couple that is looking for their venue it’s this…PICK AN AWESOME LOCATION! You always win when it comes to this. Wether it be beautiful or memorable or both…it is completely worth it. It can just change the whole mood of the day. AND it looks great in video and pictures. Can’t argue that everybody wants that!

I stayed through the reception and captured more footage throughout the night. At the reception they released a video I made for them a few months prior to their wedding day. Typically it’s called a “Love Story” video. I just haven’t come up with a creative enough name for it yet…Any suggestions?? This video was a HIT! people laughed, people cried, but most importantly It brought people closer together. Almost like some couples were re-living their first moments as well. It was pretty awesome to see it all unfold. I will post this video within the next month. So look out for it!

Capturing Aaron + Ashlynn’s big day was a blast. The day started earlier for me. I remember pulling into a Starbucks at about 9am to relax a bit before the day started. Seconds later I heard rain falling harder than I’ve heard in a long time. Their wedding was scheduled in a church but, we had plans to do the first look and group shots outside. When I drove over to the church where they were getting ready I had to drive 10mph. That was the fastest I could go while still being able to see what was infront of me. Hopefully that painted the picture of how the day began. The cool thing was that the rain didn’t even phase this couple one bit. They just said oh well, it is what it is. At that moment I knew this couple was for real. I know every bride dreams of their wedding day to be the most perfect day in their life. I hope every bride I encounter gets that satisfaction, they deserve it. But, for Ashlynn it was so much more than that. She was going to marry the man she has always wanted to, and that trumped any weather that could interfere with the day. Aaron has been one of the most laid back grooms I’ve worked with. He was super easy to work with. Fortunately for the both of them, the rain cleared up during our FIRST LOOK. This was great for everybody, because now Justin Mark Photography could take some photos outside with nice overcast for vibrant pictures. Check out his Facebook here. I shot this awesome wedding last month. What a crazy day! I had a ton of fun shooting once again with Justin Mark Photography and his wife Ally. I’ve known Alyssa for a handful of years now and it was great to see her completely pumped to get married. The weather was less than average but Mitch + Alyssa didn’t let that be an issue. They just had dad run out quick and buy some umbrella’s. Then we got the show on the road. They were even kind enough to let me borrow one! Which i managed to tuck the handle inside my sweater so I could have both hands free to run a camera. Creative, funny lookin but, creative.

They alotted the perfect amount of time towards pictures and video. This made it possible to get some cool shots I’ve never really had the chance to do. Like the car sequence. From what I understand this old Caddy actually belonged to Mitch and he spent a few months re-painting it and finishing it up for the big day. I could tell this car was gonna be an important part of the day, so why not do something cool to capture it. It was actually a really low maintenance shoot. I just set the camera on the dash with a wide angle lens and told them to have fun. Easy. But, I think it captured a fun part of the day and was really unique for a video. Usually I include audio for most videos but for this one, I just felt the vibe was set best with video alone. I hope you guys like it! Congrats Alyssa + Mitch you guys are awesome!

I have known Justin for years and years now. It was awesome to see one of my friends take the plunge! I had the honor of getting to capture this awesome wedding. Ally has a personality that could light up a room. Not to mention she is one crazy trooper. This couple wasn’t afraid to do anything! No lie, we hiked what felt like a mile to a hilltop for the “First Look.” We walked through wet grass, mud and dirt to capture this awesome moment. We had horse riders going by and everything. All in her pretty white dress. I don’t know how she did it, but she managed to get through that whole experience stain-free! She also managed to make it through the ceremony! A wedding vow can seem repetitive and even feel meaningless or routine sometimes. With Ally, you could sense the conviction in her voice. This is what it’s all about. Justins humor made this day fly by. I hope this video captures the story honest and true. Enjoy.

I just got the package in the mail yesterday! I’ve been waiting to see these bad boys for a couple weeks now and i am not the least bit disappointed. I created a business card for my brother in law Randy. He owns a home renovation business. He was looking for something clean and crisp.

I printed on Silk paper for the first time, scary, but the risk payed off in full. Silk Print cards are the most unique business cards I’ve ever held. They are surprisingly sturdy and they don’t crease much. They’re really durable and have a beautiful matte like finish to them. You can also write on these. This was essential for Randy because he might be able to give an estimate on the spot and want to give it to a potential client. These cards have made me want to order some for myself now! These aren’t the “newest” cards to hit the industry, but they are pretty current. If you’ve had any doubts of whether or not to get them, my vote is yes!

I was out with the beautiful wife yesterday…a Saturday afternoon date to the laundromat. I decided to use this moment to get creative…alright in all honesty I just didn’t want to do the laundry. But, I swear I love my wife and love her more for being so kind to do the laundry all by herself! Anyways…this shoot was fun. It was in florescent light which is something I actually haven’t shot in a lot, kind of surprising but true. I had a lot of fun using the 7D to capture the 720p footage at 60 fps. I honestly love using DSLR to capture video way more than the standard HD video cam. You just can’t beat the diversity in lenses and the ability to blow out the depth of field. I’ve only recently started shooting on the 7D. In this video I used the kit lens, a 28-135mm and shot freehand. I edited in premiere pro CS5 and used the Vimeo HD encoder through Adobe Media Encoder. What a great feature I will talk more about that next time…but for now I hope you enjoy the video there will be many more to come.
